Home Safety >

The Home Safety Committee is made up of Elected Members, Officers, and representatives from various organisations with an interest in home accident prevention, the Committee meets four times a year to play an active role in campaigning for change on such issues as Installation of Sprinklers and the employment of Home Safety Officers as a Mandatory Function. For further information on meeting times, minutes or on work the committee undertakes please contact us

Chair - Vacant

Vice Chair Cllr Clare Adamson M.S.P.- Elected Member North Lanarkshire Council

The Council is concerned that the financial reality being faced by members is having an impact on accident prevention work across Scotland notably in Home Safety, of which there is no statutory obligation. Whilst understanding the impact of a tight financial settlement this year and in the years ahead the Council would draw to member’s attention the need to remain focused on the realty of the Home being the main area for accidents across Scotland. The Vice-Chair of Home Safety has therefore asked that members give consideration to appointing a new chair of the Home Safety Committee (due to the retrial of the Chair) to ensure that Home Safety remains a critical element of the Councils work. Members who would like to express an interest in becoming the Chair of the Home Safety Committee are therefore asked to submit their names to the secretariat by the 31st August 2011 with election at the Home Safety Committee on the 21st September 2011. For more information please contact the secretariat.
